The Grand Plan?
Well I hope it is! Having looked at the total amount of Internet Real Estate I’m developing, I figured it was time for
a little rationalisation, if only to reduce the work load and hopefully to make things simpler and more relevant for
people visiting the site.
Right at the top of the pile are three sites that will be formed into a single site with a number of subordinate
satellite mini-sites.
These three sites currently deal with three separate but related topics.
The first is Business Web Site Design, the second is live Web Marketing Workshops and Webinars. And lastly the third
topic is Web Home Study Products (boxed sets of CDs and DVDs and so on).
The next thing of course is then to come up with an overall site map and names of each of the web pages. This is always
a good time to go back and review Google’s Search Engine Optimization Starter Guide to make sure everything is Google
friendly as well as visitor friendly.
Plus of course, some basic keyword research to make sure I’ve got some initial keyword phrases that will give me a
toe-hold in each of the satellite topics I can then build on.
Most of the keywords at this lower level will be longer type keyword phrases. While the top-level pages will be
optimised for the shorter type keyword phrases.
This then means that general traffic can filter down through the top level. And more specific traffic can go straight
to the satellite sites.
There are other reasons for not having all the satellite sites as part of the main site, but more about that later.
Stay tuned…
