Let’s Get Back On Track

Over the last few posts I feel I’ve wandered a little from the purpose of this blog.

Looking back on the early posts I wanted to use this blog as a means of showing you what I was actually doing on this site to build it as I went along.

So as the title of this post says, ‘Let’s Get Back On Track’…

As you can probably see, if you go back to the main site, it’s all very clonky looking. But this will change in due course. (Even as I type I have a web designer already working on a ‘look and feel’ for the site.)

Instead what I wanted to do was use my FrontPage 2003 web page editor to create a working prototype of the site. The great thing about that is I can play around with different ideas without having to get my web designer involved. Quite literally changes can take only a few moments to make.

And frankly quite a lot of the content is well… content not just look and feel. So creating a rather texty looking site is just fine for the moment and I hope it doesn’t offend your eye too much.

But there are some bigger issues to do with what I’m actually trying to do with the site and what products and services I’ll be offering.

This has sent me back to the drawing board more than once. But I’m much more comfortably now that I’ve got a business plan, a marketing model and a web architecture. Especially now that all of these three things are aligned with each other!

The result, so far, is a 3 month average Alexa Rank of 796,918, a Google Page Rank of 1 and even a few opt-ins to my subscriber list.

We all start where we start and… a start has been made. But, as I’m sure you’ll agree, there’s still much to do before I set the whole thing on autopilot and head for the beach!

Stay Tuned…
